A Mississippi eyeglass manufacturer’s $12.45 million expansion will add 188 jobs to the Magnolia State workforce.
Superior Optical Lab, based in Ocean Springs, is expanding its operations in Jackson County. The expansion, which will increase the company’s production capabilities, highlights Mississippi’s commitment to supporting veteran-owned businesses and boosting local job opportunities.
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) and Jackson County are assisting with the expansion project, which includes building improvements to accommodate the increased capacity. Superior Optical Lab, a service-disabled veteran-owned company, has been producing eyewear for over three decades and has long been a key supplier for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, providing affordable, high-quality eyewear to veterans and their families.
Gov. Tate Reeves praised the investment, emphasizing the positive economic impact of nearly 190 new jobs in the Gulf Coast region. “Mississippi is proud to support its veterans and veteran-owned companies like Superior Optical Lab,” Reeves stated. “This expansion will certainly have a positive impact in the Gulf Coast Region.”
Superior Optical Lab recently completed a separate expansion, adding 45,000 square feet to its production space. With this latest investment, the company aims to further enhance efficiency and reliability for its clients across the country.
“Superior Optical Lab has been a part of our state’s economic landscape for more than 30 years,” said MDA Executive Director Bill Cork. “This investment represents the ongoing commitment of the Superior Optical team to its community, and MDA is proud to support the growth of this veteran-owned company.”
Superior Optical Lab’s expansion marks another economic development success for Mississippi, strengthening the state’s position as a prime location for business growth and innovation.
