Man in who barricaded himself in Mississippi residence in custody after tense standoff

A man who barricaded himself in a Mississippi home was taken into custody following a tense standoff.

Officers from the Olive Branch Police Department responded to a domestic incident call around 9 a.m. on Monday at a residence in the 5800 block of South Manor Cove. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who then locked himself inside an upstairs bedroom, refusing to come out.

The Olive Branch SWAT team, with assistance from the Southaven Police Department SWAT team, worked together to safely resolve the situation. The man was removed from the home without injury or further incident.

“We express our appreciation to the Southaven Police Department for their assistance and are grateful for the way our departments throughout DeSoto County work together to provide a safe place to live, work, worship, and play,” the city of Olive Branch said in a statement.

As of Tuesday morning, the individual’s identity has not been released, and no additional details have been provided.
