Former honor society advisor at Mississippi community college pleads guilty to embezzling funds

A former advisor for a Mississippi community college honor society has pleaded guilty to embezzling funds intended for the honor society’s activities.

According to State Auditor Shad White, Lowe, Robin Lowe pleaded guilty to misappropriating money to benefit the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society at Itawamba Community College. Officials say Lowe, who also served as a bookkeeper at the college, used the money she embezzled for her personal use. The embezzlement was uncovered following an investigation.

Lowe was prosecuted in the Itawamba County Circuit Court, where she was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with 19 years of the sentence suspended. She will also serve one year in an Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) and pay fines totaling $1,511.50.
