Liebherr, one of the world’s largest construction equipment manufacturers, is set to make a major impact in Lee County with its new logistics center. The facility, expected to open in 2026, will bring over 300 jobs to Northeast Mississippi.
The Liebherr Logistics Center, to be built at the HIVE Business Park in Tupelo, will include more than 1 million square feet of building space across a 118-acre site. The company plans to invest over $230 million in the development, marking a significant boost to the local economy.
Governor Tate Reeves highlighted the project’s potential to provide well-paying jobs that surpass the county’s average wage. “Liebherr will offer families wages they can support their families on, and that’s exciting for this community,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony hosted by Mississippi’s Community Development Foundation.
David Rumbarger, president of the Community Development Foundation, praised the collaboration between local institutions and government, which he said was a key factor in attracting Liebherr to the area.
This expansion underscores Mississippi’s growing appeal for international companies. “Economic development is a team sport,” Reeves remarked, emphasizing the state’s investments in site and workforce development to attract projects like Liebherr.
Liebherr’s addition comes as Mississippi continues to rank among the top states for low unemployment.
