Man reportedly attacks teens hunting wild hogs along rural Mississippi highway

A man has been accused of attacking three teenagers hunting wild hogs in a Calhoun County field.

WTVA in Tupelo reports that the incident happened in Calhoun County on Sunday, Dec. 15.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the teenagers were given permission to hunt in a field along County Road 308 in Calhoun County, when they were confronted by a man visiting a nearby house.

The man was identified as Matthew Long.

After the teens fired at wild hogs, Long allegedly confronted them and fired a gun into the ground near where they stood. The teenagers fled the scene in a truck, but Long reportedly pursued them.

The altercation escalated when Long caught up with the group, attacked one of the teenagers, and caused damage to their vehicle, resulting in two reported injuries.

Long now faces charges of aggravated assault and felony malicious mischief.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
