A South Carolina man was arrested early Sunday morning following a high-speed pursuit in an 18-wheeler that spanned multiple counties in Mississippi.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was alerted at approximately 12:19 a.m. on December 22 that a semi-truck, previously fleeing from Louisiana State Police, was entering Rankin County westbound from Scott County on I-20.

Deputies quickly located the vehicle near the 56-mile marker, observing it weaving dangerously across lanes. When an officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply, leading to a pursuit.

The chase escalated as officers from the Pearl Police Department deployed spike strips near the 52-mile marker. The truck struck the strips but continued westbound, weaving through the City of Jackson and into Clinton before eventually coming to a stop.

When officers approached the vehicle, the driver barricaded himself inside the cab. Law enforcement had to break the driver’s window to apprehend him.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old David Sergey Pozdnyakov of Duncan, South Carolina, was taken into custody. He faces charges of:

Felony Fleeing
Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
Disobeying a Police Officer
Careless Driving
Pozdnyakov remains held at the Rankin County Detention Center without bond.

Authorities have confirmed that the incident is under investigation and additional charges may be filed in both Mississippi and Louisiana.
