Upon arrival, firefighters found a small pickup truck and a four-door sedan involved in the collision. The truck was blocking both lanes of the highway.

Emergency crews immediately shut down both directions of Highway 11, closing it at the Moselle city limits near the fire department and Ben Thompson Road.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles, requiring the use of hydraulic tools for removal. Despite efforts by first responders, both succumbed to their injuries.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office, Emserv Ambulance Service, and the Jones County Coroner’s Office were also on the scene to assist with the investigation and recovery efforts.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
