Mississippi authorities are urgently seeking public assistance in identifying and locating the suspect responsible for a New Year’s Day triple murder. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department released surveillance photos on Thursday showing the suspect entering Clark’s gas station on St. Peter’s Street in State Line, where he was seen stealing items.
The suspect, described as a Black man weighing approximately 250 pounds and standing between 5’10” and 6 feet tall, is accused of killing three people: Rhonda Denson, Lester Campbell, and Jason Thornton.
The tragic incident unfolded early Wednesday morning, around 6 a.m. when the shooter allegedly lay in wait behind the gas station. According to GCSD Chief Deputy Brad Warrick, the suspect ambushed one victim outside before entering the store, where he fatally shot two others after committing a robbery.
The murders have left the close-knit community in shock.
While Greene County leads the investigation, other law enforcement agencies are actively assisting. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, as the suspect remains on the run.
