A Tupelo native made Mississippi proud this week with a standout performance on the iconic quiz show Jeopardy!.

Andrew Hayes, originally from Tupelo and a former University of Mississippi student, appeared on Wednesday’s episode and claimed victory with an impressive $25,200 win, unseating the reigning champion.

Hayes, currently a law student living in Cambridge, Massachusetts, will return to the Jeopardy! stage on Thursday to defend his title.
