A Harrison County jury has sentenced Logan Allan D’Elena, 29, of Saucier, to life in prison as a habitual offender following his conviction for burglary and grand larceny.
The charges stem from a December 2022 incident in which D’Elena stole a utility trailer, forestry mulcher, and stump grinder from a home on Turan Road. Prosecutors say D’Elena first approached the victim under the guise of buying equipment, spending two hours on the property and leaving behind his business card.
Surveillance video later captured D’Elena returning to the area, hiding in nearby woods until the victim left. He then broke into the home, ransacked it, and stole the equipment, along with at least 15 firearms and thousands of dollars’ worth of ammunition.
Authorities say D’Elena traded the stolen equipment for a motorcycle and cash. The utility trailer was later found abandoned near his home. The firearms were never recovered.
Assistant District Attorneys Jasmine Magee and Katherine Simmerman prosecuted the case. D’Elena’s life sentence will run consecutively to a 25-year sentence he is already serving for previous felony convictions.
