A Natchez man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting his stepson in the face during a domestic dispute Sunday evening.

According to the Natchez Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Liberty Road on April 27. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.

The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Joseph Edward Letcher, was taken into custody at the scene. Police said the shooting followed a fight between Letcher and his stepson.

The victim was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he remained in critical condition as of Monday morning.

The Natchez Democrat first reported the incident. Authorities have not released the name of the victim.
