Mississippi reports highest new number of coronavirus cases in two weeks

On Thursday, Mississippi reported the highest number of new, daily COVID-19 coronavirus cases in two weeks.
The state reported 737 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. The last daily update with a higher number in recent weeks was on September 11 when 853 cases were reported.
The state also reported four additional deaths Thursday. One of the deaths reported Thursday occurred on August 14.
In total, 95,310 cases have been found in the state since March. The state believes approximately 85,000 of those cases have recovered.
A total of 2,874 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases rose to 482 with Thursday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average rose to 499 cases per day.
Totals of all reported COVID-19 cases for 2020, including those in long-term care (LTC) facilities.
