Mississippi Skies: Sunshine returns, but rainy weather is on the way! When will we expect just rain and when will we get the chance for some severe weather?

Thursday is going to be sunny and chilly for most of us, especially in the northern counties where wind chills will dip into the 20s in the morning.
The sunshine won’t last long, however. Forecast models are showing a system coming our way Friday into Saturday, bringing decent chances of rain. In this system, we’re not expecting severe weather other than some heavy rainfall in places.
Once we get through that system, our next front will come through Monday night into Tuesday morning. This system is still several days out, but the Storm Prediction Center is maintaining a severe risk with these storms. We’ll have a better idea on specifics in a day or two.
Right now, a Level 2 risk covers from Highway 98 south and includes Natchez, Brookhaven, and Hattiesburg. A Level 1 stretches from Highway 98 to Yazoo City and Meridian.
