Many readers on Facebook reacted with excitement and humor.

One Facebook commenter joked that meal plans would be useless for students. “It will be Chiky nuggets all day, every day!”

“The Lord’s chicken is coming to town. I may go broke,” one commenter said on the Itawamba Community College Facebook page.

The proposed building and the accompanying Chick-fil-A is not expected to be open until Spring of 2026, which led to some sad faces and comments from current students who will graduate before the restaurant opens.

“I reckon the saying about when you leave high school everything upgrades or changes also applies to college πŸ˜‚ If only they’d bump the finish date up to 2025!” one person posted.

“Y’all wait til i leave to do this πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™,” another commenter posted.Β

Overall, the response on Facebook was positive and demonstrated the level of excitement among students, faculty and local residents of Fulton, a town of less than 5,000 people.

“This facility would benefit our students, employees and the communities we serve! More information will be shared in the coming months with an official groundbreaking to follow,” ICC officials posted.
