A man who eluded police after fleeing a traffic stop has been taken into custody.

The suspect, identified as Alex Daniel, led police on a chase after officers attempted a traffic stop on Thursday near Ocean Springs Hospital off Highway 90 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Daniel fled on foot after police deployed spike strips and eventually stopped the car Daniel was driving at Forest Hill Drive and Government Street.

Daniel left behind a female passenger and a child in the car. The passengers were uninjured.

Daniel was later captured not far from an apartment complex where he was reportedly staying.

Daniel was wanted on several felony warrants.
