The Gulfport Police Department arrested 20-year-old Dangel Mae Octavia Wills Friday and charged her with four counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and one count of Felony Fleeing and Eluding.
On April 12, at approximately 11:22 p.m., officers responded to the 4600 block of Old Pass Road in reference to a large crowd creating a disturbance.
While on scene, officers observed Wills allegedly recklessly operating her vehicle and attempting to leave the parking lot. According to a police statement, Wills refused to exit the vehicle when instructed by officers. Officers attempted to remove Wills from the vehicle, and she put the vehicle in drive and allegedly dragged two officers several feet until they were able to safely release themselves from the vehicle.
Wills fled the parking lot and was located a short time later. As officers were attempting to pull her over, Wills reportedly intentionally struck a law enforcement vehicle. Through the course of fleeing, Wills struck several law enforcement vehicles. Wills’ vehicle was disabled, and after repeatedly refusing commands to exit the vehicle, she was apprehended by a police K9.
After receiving medical treatment, Wills was transported to the Gulfport Police Department to be interviewed. Wills admitted to striking the law enforcement vehicles and stated she did not intend to get out of her vehicle when told to do so by officers.
Wills was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center to be held in lieu of her $250,000 bond set by Judge Patano.
