Officials believe a severed human leg discovered in a Wisconsin park and other human remains found two weeks later by a citizen walking along the beach are of a woman with Mississippi ties.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said it began investigating after a severed human leg was discovered in a local park on April 2. The Milwaukee Police Department, a volunteer organization, a forensic expert and 13 other local, state, and federal agencies have assisted in the investigation.

Within a week, MCSO said, several additional human remains have been discovered in Milwaukee – all believed, although not yet formally confirmed, to be of Vicksburg native Sade Robinson.

On Thursday, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release updating the murder with more grisly discoveries coming out of the Wisconsin investigation.

“The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is investigating the discovery of human remains Thursday near 3305 Marina Rd., along a remote stretch of tree-lined beach along Lake Michigan, nearly a quarter mile from an apartment complex, where they are believed to have washed ashore,” the release reads. “The torso and arm, found at 7:37 a.m. by a citizen walking the beach, are believed to be that of Sade Robinson, 19, whom MCSO investigators believe was murdered by Maxwell Anderson, 33, of the 3100 block of S. 39th Street in Milwaukee, on or about April 2.”

Robinson, who was born in Vicksburg, moved away with her family at around the age of two.

“Our thoughts and prayers and the full support of this agency remain with Robinson’s family and loved ones as they grieve and process her tragic loss,” MCSO said in Thursday’s statement.

Anderson was taken into custody and has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, and arson of property other than building in relation to Robinson’s death. All three charges are felonies and carry a combined maximum sentence of life imprisonment, MCSO said.

The investigation into Robinson’s death is ongoing.
