Mississippi authorities are searching for the gunman who is on the run after carjacking and killing a customer at a truck stop Tuesday evening.

Officials from the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office confirm an armed robbery and shooting at the Wesson Truck Stop on I-55.

A customer was carjacked, shot and later died at a hospital. The victim’s car was found a short distance later abandoned.

Copiah County Sheriff’s Office reported the offender is not in custody at this time.

More details will be released once video footage is reviewed.

Wesson Truck Stop is at the intersection of Sylvarena Road and I-55.
