Mississippi woman out on bond back behind bars after child tests positive for drugs

A Mississippi woman already out on a felony bond finds herself back behind bars after a child in her care tested positive for meth.

Teresa Mendez Figueroa, 24, of Abbeville, was arrested and charged with Child Endangerment on May 30.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, on May 27, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit received a report from Child Protective Services of a child who tested positive for methamphetamine.

Figueroa appeared before a Justice Court Judge on May 31 and was given a $40,000 bond.

The bond was revoked because Figueroa is currently out of jail on a felony bond.

Figueroa is being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center awaiting trial.
