A body found inside the trunk of a vehicle at a Mississippi car lot Monday has been positively identified as a woman who was last seen leaving the scene of a 1 a.m. crash last week.

Officials have been looking for Samantha Elisabeth McCowan, 32, since she was last seen leaving the scene of a crash on foot on Friday, June 7. McCowan reportedly struck a power pole at 1 a.m. on Victory Road near Highway 184 in Jones County. After the crash McCowan was seen leaving the crash scene on foot.

WDAM in Hattiesburg reports that Jones County deputies said a body that was discovered in the trunk of one of the vehicles at a local used car lot on Highway 184 on June 10 was positively identified as McCowan.

An autopsy completed by the Mississippi Forensic Laboratory and video from security cameras showed no indications of foul play, investigators report.
