Three arrested in Southern Miss football player’s murder

Mississippi police announced Friday the arrests of three people charged with the murder of a Southern Miss football player.
On Friday, the Hattiesburg Police Department arrested three isuspects, charging all three with capital murder in connection to the deadly shooting of 21-year-old Marcus “MJ” Daniels, Jr.
Daniels, a Lucedale native and sports standout at George County High School, was found shot to death in his car near the university campus.
After high school he attended Ole Miss, but transferred to Southern Miss to be starting cornerback and had switched to play safety more recently.
The three suspects arrested were:
— Orlando May, 18, of Hattiesburg, has been arrested and charged with one (1) count of Capital Murder; one (1) count of Attempted Armed Carjacking; one (1) count of Felony Eluding; and two (2) counts of Grand Larceny Auto.
— Allen Marcus Gardner, 17, of Houston, Texas, has been arrested and charged as an adult with one (1) count of Capital Murder and one (1) count of Attempted Armed Carjacking.
— Samir Green, 16, of Hattiesburg, has been arrested and charged as an adult with one (1) count of Capital Murder and one (1) count of Attempted Armed Carjacking.
All three have been booked into the Forrest County Jail.
