Officials say a Mississippi man was killed when he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house early Friday morning.

WDAM in Hattiesburg reports that Burnell Gould, 27, of Hattiesburg, was shot and killed during an incident that occurred on West 10th Avenue in Petal shortly after 3 a.m. Friday.

According to Petal Police, officers received a 911 call from a woman reporting that her ex-boyfriend, later identified as Gould, was banging on her door.

Officials say another male inside the house fired and hit Gould when he forced his way into the house. Gould was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

No arrests have been made in the incident, which continues to be under investigation.
