Mississippi authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a female was found deceased in a Vicksburg house.

The Vicksburg Post reports that police responded to a report of a stabbing shortly after 4 a.m. Friday to a house in the 800 block of Clark Street.

When Vicksburg Police officers arrived at the scene, a female victim was found dead inside the house.

Police report that a male subject has been detained for questioning in the incident.
