Mississippi company ‘shocked’ by Olympics display mocking Last Supper, vows to pull advertising

A Mississippi technology and communications company’s leadership said Saturday they were “shocked” by what they perceived was a mockery of Jesus Christ Friday night in the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics.
As a result, CSpire said it would pull its advertising from the Olympics.
“We were shocked by the mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics,” company official wrote on social media Saturday morning. “C Spire will be pulling our advertising from the Olympics.”
The brief segment during the opening ceremonies featured what appeared to be several drag queens along with other actors depicting the famous painting “The Last Supper” by Italian master painter Leonardo Da Vinci. Others have said the scene wasn’t that at all, but instead a depiction of the Greek god Dionysus.
CSpire was a rare business that expressed outrage over the display, but was by far not the only one offended by the performance.
Dozens of political and religious leaders and celebrities took the Olympics to task over the mocking display.
House Speaker Mike Johnson wrote on social media, “Last night’s mockery of the Last Supper was shocking and insulting to Christian people around the world who watched the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
“The war on our faith and traditional values knows no bounds today. But we know that truth and virtue will always prevail. ‘The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.’ (John 1:5)”
