Tennessee kidnapping suspect arrested after phone tracked in Mississippi nearly 100 miles away

Authorities arrested a kidnapping suspect after they were able to track her cellphone nearly 100 miles away.

Regan Kelly, 28, was wanted for the especially aggravated kidnapping of a child in Tennessee and was arrested in Grenada County in Mississippi. The Grenada County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies found Kelly on Carpenter Road on Monday. The child, who was reportedly kidnapped, was located at the residence along with another child.

Both children were unharmed and were released to Child Protective Services.

The Grenada County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Millington Police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and Grenada Police after warrants were issued for Kelly’s arrest. No further details have been released.

In addition to kidnapping, Kelly is charged with aggravated burglary.

Kelly was booked into the Grenada County Jail and then extradited to Tennessee, where she is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

The Grenada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both children are now with their legal guardians.
