Mississippi resident spots intruder on video, leading to swift arrest by police

A Mississippi resident who was shocked to see an intruder inside their apartment on a security video quickly alerted police.

On August 7, 2024, the Oxford Police Department responded to a burglary in progress in the 2400 block of Anderson Road. At approximately 1:50 PM, police received a call from a resident who reported observing an unknown male inside their apartment through a security camera.

Officers quickly initiated an investigation and identified the suspect as 28-year-old Darryl Andre King, a resident of Oxford. King was apprehended later that same day and taken into custody. He was subsequently transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

King was charged with burglary and appeared before a Municipal Court Judge, who set a bond for his release. However, a hold was placed on King by the Drug Court, preventing his immediate release from custody.

Authorities have not released additional details about the ongoing investigation, but the swift response by the Oxford Police Department and the use of security camera footage were crucial in apprehending the suspect.
