A 12-year-old Mississippi boy has died in what officials believe was an accidental shooting.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reports that the shooting occurred early Monday morning at a home on Kevin Drive in the Helena community.

Officials have given few details about the shooting other than to say that a 12-year-old boy died in the incident.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
