A Louisiana woman has been charged with the murder of her 10-month-old daughter, who died after being left in a hot car.

Hannah Faith Cormier, 32, of Louisiana, has been charged with second-degree murder following the tragic death of her daughter.

On August 13, Cormier reportedly told police she accidentally left her baby in the vehicle after being called into work. According to Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes, Cormier had been at work for two hours before she rushed her daughter to the hospital around 4 p.m.

Investigators determined that the car’s internal temperature had reached between 140 and 150 degrees during that time. When the infant arrived at the hospital, her body temperature was dangerously high, 109 degrees. Despite efforts to save her, the baby succumbed to her injuries and died the following night.

Cormier was arrested on Sunday and charged with cruelty to juveniles and second-degree murder.

She is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

Officials say that Cormier was charged with second-degree murder rather than negligent homicide based on a combination of evidence, including witness statements, forensic data, surveillance video, and electronic records.
