Man found shot multiple times, 300 pounds of marijuana seized in tiny Mississippi town

Mississippi police responding to a call in the small town of Purvis found a man shot multiple times and more than 300 pounds of marijuana, THC-infused candy and guns.

On August 20, 2024, Purvis Police responded to a call on the 800 block of Martin Luther King Drive in Purvis, Mississippi.

Purvis is a town of less than 2,000 people in Lamar County in southeast Mississippi.

Upon arrival, officers found a 47-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he is now reported to be alive and in stable condition.

During the investigation, authorities seized over 300 pounds of marijuana, more than 200 packs of THC-infused candy, and five handguns.

The Purvis Police Department expressed gratitude to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.
