A Mississippi man was arrested on Thursday after he refused to stop at a highway checkpoint and nearly hit a state trooper while fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed.
Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol were conducting a safety checkpoint on Medgar Evers Boulevard near the Interstate 220 ramp just before noon on Thursday, September 5.
Troopers report that a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica refused to stop and continued driving at a high-rated speed, almost hitting a trooper.
MHP officials said the driver led a trooper on a chase that ended on Yarbor Street in Jackson.
David White, 35, of Jackson, was arrested and taken to the Hinds County Detention Center.
This incident is under investigation by MHP.
