Rescuers searching for 37-year-old man swept away while trying to cross Mississippi creek

Rescuers were searching Sunday evening for a man who went missing after trying to cross a North Mississippi creek.
WTVA in Tupelo reports that first responders were on the scene of Twentymile Creek east of Guntown in Lee County.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson reported that deputies and first responders were searching for the 37-year-old white male at County Road 2578 near Highway 370 east of Guntown.
Officials say the man tried to swim across the creek and was swept away by the rain-swollen waters.
Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the search.
