Mississippi teen killed after being struck by train

A Mississippi teenager was killed Thursday after being hit by a train while reportedly trying to take a shortcut on the tracks.
Officials with the New Albany Police Department responded shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday to a call about a pedestrian who had been struck by a train.
The incident occurred approximately a quarter-mile from the railroad crossing at Highland Street and the Highway 15 overpass in New Albany.
Police believe the 19-year-old male from Pitts Camp attempted to take a shortcut and walk on the tracks.
His name has not been released.
Police do not suspect foul play.
