Two people were injured Friday afternoon following a jet ski collision on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources confirmed the accident, stating that two jet skis collided near Sunset Landing and Bayou Portage.

One individual sustained an arm injury, while another suffered a minor head injury and was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. A third person involved in the accident was reported to be unharmed, according to Charmaine Schmermund, public affairs director for the Department of Marine Resources.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office first responded to the scene, with efforts to recover the jet skis from the water continuing into the afternoon.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
