Six people killed in early morning wrong-way crash on Mississippi interstate

Six people lost their lives early Friday morning in a tragic wrong-way crash on Interstate 55 at Daniel Lake Boulevard.
Authorities were called to the scene around 2:45 a.m., where a pickup truck traveling southbound in the northbound lane collided head-on with a car.
Jackson Police Detective Tommie Brown released details about the victims. The car’s passengers included a 34-year-old woman, a 30-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman, and a 6-year-old boy, all from Copiah County. The driver of the pickup truck, a 23-year-old man from Scott County, was also killed.
All six victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, the Jackson Police Department expressed condolences: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims of this tragic accident.”
Authorities have not yet identified the victims or determined the cause of the crash. Updates will be provided as more details become available.
