Police promise a full investigation after a vehicle owner shot and killed a juvenile during a reported burglary at a Mississippi laundromat Sunday.

Brookhaven Police Chief Kenny Collins confirmed that a vehicle owner shot and killed a juvenile during a burglary incident Sunday afternoon.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. at Speedy Wash on Industrial Park Road, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. Investigators found that a vehicle had been burglarized, and the owner fatally shot one of the individuals involved.

Police are actively investigating the case, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the event. Lincoln County Coroner Blake Wallace identified the deceased individual as a juvenile but did not release further details.

“We understand this incident is concerning to the community and are committed to a thorough and transparent investigation,” Chief Collins stated in a press release. He urged residents to remain patient as police continue their work.
