State Auditor Stacey Pickering says a former court clerk facing felony embezzlement charges stole nearly $200,000, according to the Associated Press.
Katherine Rich Dennis, once a municipal court clerk in Pearl, was indicted in August for allegedly pocketing court fines in 2014 and 2015.
Pickering could bring a civil lawsuit if Dennis doesn’t pay $238,000 by Oct. 20 to cover “lost money, interest and investigation costs.”
Dennis is free on $20,000 bail.
