A Mississippi pastor allegedly stole more than $300,000 from his former church over the course of two years.
Broadmoor Baptist Church officials told The Clarion-Ledger that former executive pastor Riley Brown embezzled $332,000 from the church coffers, discovering the transactions following an internal review in September.
The Madison church told The Clarion-Ledger Brown is no longer employed and though they aren’t pressing criminal charges, they “will fully cooperate with prosecutors.”
“As a body of Christ, we sought to find a proper balance between accountability and grace; and given our changes in personnel and significant new safeguards and internal controls we have added, and will continue to add, we are confident we can responsibly steward the resources entrusted to us,” the statement reads.
