A Mississippi basketball player put a spark into the start of the season by making a seemingly impossible shot Tuesday night — a winning full-court basket.

With approximately two seconds remaining in the game, Cathedral School’s Sam Mosby chucked the basketball down the full length of the court to give the Green Wave a 26-24 victory over Delta Charter in junior varsity action.
“I’ve tried to make that shot in practice and I couldn’t even get close to the rim,” Mosby said. “I really didn’t think it was going to go in. I just threw it. I had no idea what to think. It was crazy.”
Cathedral (1-0) will be back in action 5 p.m. Thursday when it travels to Brookhaven Academy.
