A Utica woman received a suspended sentence and was placed on probation after pleading guilty in 9th District Circuit Court to sexual battery by a person in position of trust and authority involving a person between the ages of 14 and 18.

Circuit Judge M. James Chaney suspended the 5-year prison sentence for Candi Michelle Dawson, 41, 1000 Glass Road, Utica, pending successful completion of five years supervised probation.

She was also ordered to pay $3,884.50 in fines fees and restitution.

Dawson was indicted during the January term of the Warren County grand jury.

The indictment accused her of using her position “as the victim’s Sunday school/youth minister and/or guardian/mother figure,” to have sex with the victim.
