A central Mississippi man has died after his motorcycle crashed during a police chase.

Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers tells WAPT-TV that 19-year-old Justin Collins of Benton was killed in Yazoo City.

Sheriff Jacob Sheriff says his deputies and other law enforcement agencies were chasing Benton when he crashed around 11 p.m. Sunday.

It’s unclear why the chase began and why Benton crashed.

Shivers referred additional questions to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

A patrol spokesman didn’t immediately respond Monday to a phone call seeking comment.
