An altercation that turned violent early Wednesday led to one woman being killed and an acquaintance shot.

Gulfport Police report officers were called to investigate a shooting at approximate 1:11 a.m. in the 14000 block of O’Neal Road.

When officers arrived on scene they found a man who had been shot, but was still alive.

Inside the residence officers located the dead body of a woman who had also been shot.

Investigators said the two people knew one another and had become involved in some kind of altercation which led to the shooting.

The male victim was transported to a hospital, but his condition was not released.

Police said, while no charges have been file, the incident is still under investigation.
