A Mississippi school teacher has been charged with attempted murder after police believe she purposefully drove her car into a lake with her 2-year-old child inside.
Columbus, Mississippi, police reported the arrest of Cari Cullum, 34, on charges of attempted murder.
Police say in the wee hours of September 21, Cullum backed her car down a boat ramp and into Columbus Lake, presumably in an attempt to kill herself and her child in the back backseat.
When police arrived, however, a friend had pulled both Cullum and the child to safety. The child was not hurt in the incident.
Cullum was a teacher at Hamilton Elementary School, but it’s unclear if she’s still employed by the school district.
Reportedly, all three of Cullum’s children are being safely cared for after her arrest.
