Federal law enforcement agents are seeking the original owner or purchaser of a Mississippi class ring that might hold a clue to four unsolved murders in Indiana.

The Clarion Ledger reports that the FBI is seeking help to identify the owner or purchaser of the 1996 class ring from Oakhurst Junior High School in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

The ring has a blue stone and the initials “JKM” are inscribed on the inside of the band.

The ring was recovered as part of an investigation into four unsolved murders committed in Gary, Indiana in February of 2002. Investigators do not believe the owner or purchaser of the ring is a suspect in the murders but want to speak to them.

Sgt. Nicholas Waldrip of the Indiana FBI task force investigating the unsolved murders told the Clarion Ledger that the ring was found at the scene of a 2002 murder.

Three people were killed in Gary, Indiana in February 2002. He said days later another person was killed. The two incidents are believed to be connected.

“We are trying to figure out any relevancy of the ring. It may not have anything to do with the murders,” Waldrip told the newspaper. “We hope the public can help give some clarity.”
