A Mississippi woman has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of her ex-husband on Friday, Dec. 13.

Franklin County Sheriff Tom Tindle said deputies arrested Kacie Deanne Woods, 28, for the shooting death of James Marshall Woods, 53, and charged her with second-degree murder. Her bond has been set at $300,000.

Kacie Woods James Woods was fatally shot at approximately 12:37 p.m. on Friday in the area of Old Loop Road in Franklin County.

Kacie Woods told authorities she acted in self-defense and had been held for questioning immediately following the incident, though investigators found no evidence to corroborate her statement, Tindle said.
