State law enforcement investigators have called off an overnight search for two Hattiesburg children.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety reported via social media that both children have been found safe.

A missing children’s alert had been issued overnight after the 8-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy were initially reported missing.

Extremely low overnight temperatures had investigators especially worried for their safety. Law enforcement officials have not disclosed details surrounding the children’s disappearance or the circumstances of their being found.
