Two teens killed in New Year’s Day crash involving stolen vehicle, Mississippi police report

Two are dead after five teenagers in a stolen vehicle crashed on New Year’s Day.
WTOK in Meridian reports that the crash occurred at approximately 5 a.m. Monday on 35th Avenue in Meridian.
Three of the teens were airlifted to local hospitals in critical condition. One of the teens involved in the wreck fled on foot, according to the Meridian Police Department.
One of the teens in the vehicle was pronounced dead at a local hospital Monday morning, according to the Lauderdale County Coroner’s Office. A second teen later died as a result of injuries from the wreck.
The names of those involved in the wreck have not been disclosed.
The crash is under investigation by the Meridian Police Department.
