A Mississippi sheriff’s department is searching for two suspects that escaped after a reported robbery in a rural community Monday evening.

According to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received the robbery call not long after 5 p.m. Information from the department shows a man claimed to have been robbed at a home on Shivers Road near Bridgeport Road.

Deputies took one armed suspect into custody at the scene and another person was arrested nearly.

“Two other males ran on foot into a nearby wooded area. We are in the process of identifying two other individuals involved. Deputies have patrolled this area heavily,” the statement reads.
