Nine Mississippi counties are under a frost advisory as evening temperatures drop into the mid-30s Sunday evening into Monday morning.
The National Weather Service issued a frost advisory for several counties in Mississippi and Tennessee. The affected areas include Marshall, Benton, Tippah, Alcorn, Tishomingo, Prentiss, Lafayette, Union and Lee counties in Mississippi.
The advisory will be in effect from 1 to 8 a.m. on Monday. Residents in these areas are cautioned about potentially low temperatures, which could drop as low as 36 degrees Fahrenheit, leading to frost formation.
The frost poses a risk to outdoor vegetation, especially sensitive plants, which may be harmed or killed if left unprotected.
Residents are advised to take precautions to safeguard their plants and outdoor belongings during this period.
Cities within the affected regions include Holly Springs, Tupelo, Oxford, Ripley, New Albany, Booneville and Corinth.
Residents are urged to stay updated on further weather developments and to take appropriate measures to protect themselves and their property.
