Husband charged with murder after Mississippi woman found dead in crashed car

One day after a woman was found dead after her car crashed into a building, her husband has been charged with murder in the case.
Kenrod Cartez Echols, 50, of Columbia, has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Zikoya Johnson Echols, 36.
Hattiesburg Police responded to a call around 10 a.m. Saturday after reports that a vehicle had crashed into a building on Park Place Avenue. Officers discovered Zikoya unresponsive in the vehicle with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Sunday, the Hattiesburg Police Department reported that Kenrod Echols had contacted authorities and admitted to his involvement in the shooting.
Along with the murder and evidence tampering charges, he faces an additional charge of malicious mischief.
Echols is currently being held in the Forrest County Jail.
